Lemon,

Hi, welcome to Mel's. I have 3 adult sons, all raised in the same house, by the same parents. born with a 4 year time span. All of them are intelligent, good looking and out of home (proud Mom). Unfortunately one of them has an alchohol/drug problem of 10 years existence. I felt I treated all of them the same, so who knows why he seems unable to get his life in order.

My own suggestions for dealing with teenagers - dont sweat the small stuff! Hair, clothes, clean rooms, all these things dont really matter, save your energy for the important things. Have clearly understood rules and stick to them. As much as it broke my heart, I finally had to ask my eldest to leave home at 21 as he consistently flouted the "no drugs' rule and I felt it was important that his brothers see that breaking rules had consequences.

Other than that, good luck.........and just tell them you love them everyday.

Lemon proof, I have a teenager. He's 14 and I have a 26 year old college graduate daughter. I don't use drugs but now that he's in high school he's getting a bit lazy about school.

Question
