I finally told them........... caution could trigger

after 32 years i have finally told my parents of the abuse i had in the childrens unit
i've never told them as they quite often never believe what i say
i guess i am the black sheep of the family!
been back in therapy for a couple of months now and have been talking to my t about telling them
so i decided now is the time to tell
i travelled down to their house thursday morning and told them just after arriving
my dad said nothing but my mum was "that's no surpricse & what do you want us to do about it?"
all i wanted was for them to believe me!
the following morning she gave me a pile of letters i had wrote whilst in the unit
there was nothing we could see inidicating any abuse
going to show them to my t on wednesday

we got home late last night as we called in on an old friend of mine

i can't believe i managed to tell them what happened!
i'm quite shocked about the way mum took it
but it was better than i expected
it's not a baby step for me! it's more of a leap!

Karen say's she's proud of me for telling!
i was so grateful to have her at my side when i did
i think if she wasn't there it could of had a totally different outcome

Dear Tracey, I know what an enormous step this was for you and I give you an anormous hug for your bravery. ((((((((((((((((((((((Trace)))))))))))))))))))))

How people take what we have to say is not in our control, the important thing is that we say it. I realised that last year when I came out to my family... some of them took it well, some not so well, but the important thing was I had brought it out into the open and out of the darkness, just as you have done.

Bless you girl.

Thankyou ((((cavey))))

i though telling would be the hardest part, but mixed emotions that follow are harder
the feeling of guilt is pretty strong just now as my mum is not well
trying to tell myself that she would still be unwell even if i hadn't said anything!

Well done. So brave.
Yes you are 100% right, she would have been ill anyway. Please don't take that on your shoulders Evil or Very Mad
