New Orleans Anyone?

...I've spoken about this with a few people and before I bring it up with the folks I live with, I'm curious...

...Would anyone be interested in coming down/up here for Mardi Gras in New Orleans? February 20th is Mardi Gras day (the climax and last day of Carnival Season).

Yeah - the city is still a mess but...1. We sure as hell could use the tourism. 2. Mardi Gras is a blast and I live on St. Charles Avenue (maybe do a google image search) right on the parade route. 3. Most, if not all, of the touristy attractions are up and running. 4. There's plenty of cheap housing available throughout the city if you book it early enough, even a couple lesbian-owned (or so I've been told).

Anyway - if you're interested, let me know. Feel free to ask questions. Maybe it's a crap idea. You tell me. The offer stands.

WOW!!!

I love NOLA!!! I love the eating, drinking, and blasphemy that takes place there!

I know there are plenty of places to book on St. Charles Avenue. Can we all flop down at your house though? That would make for a blissful time!

Much Love,

As of right now i doubt i can make it to Mardi Gras. i wish i could. If i have surgery on my shoulder ( and it's looking like i will ) it will probably happen in mid-January. That would only give me a month to recover and try to save the money too. So if ya'll go, have fun and i'll be there in spirit!!!

I will check flight availability, my birthday 19th Feb and we were to have had our annual sweet adelines convention there a few weeks after the hurricane katrina desaster, New Orleans had been circled in red on many a calendar practically since we last partied there in 1995. Of all convention stops over the years, none had been more popular with contestants and convention-goers than The Big Easy. All over the world, choruses and quartets built jazz packages to celebrate the sound of New Orleans and the bayou. What a celebration of music this would be, what a great, funky, fun place to be together.

And then, Katrina.
