finally, the day has come for me to fly the ocean second time, but this time to USA! I'm traveling with my brother and his girlfriend.. I'll visit Las Vegas, Washington, Philadelphia and New York!
I'm only a bit dissaponted that my gf can't go with us. She can't take vacation from work...
But, I'm happy to go anyway!
So, if you have any tips of any kind.. specially for Vegas.. please, write it here I just have one wish besides Grand Canyon which we will go to, and that is to ride a mechanical bull! Since I was a kid I wanted to try myself on that
I'm happy and I wanted to share that with you girls!
love,
Jezzie

Congratulations, jezzie!
This is so exciting!
When you are in Philadelphia, make sure you go to see the Liberty Bell and the Constitution Center. Make sure you eat a soft pretzel from a street vendor (the locals will be able to help you find one). If you come during the warm months, make sure you get water ice, too.
Other Mels members should be able to help you with tips for other cities, especially Las Vegas.
And oh yeah, make sure you take lots of pictures!

Hi Jezzie, glad to see you so excited by your upcoming trip!
Umm I dont know about the mechanical bull LOL but if you are a thrill seeker you need to ride the Roller Coaster at New York, New York in Las Vegas. It runs around the OUTSIDE of the building!
If you mean Wasgington DC (as apposed to Washington State) then allow two days if possible just to walk the Mall, go up Washingtons Tower (needle? forget actual name), Lincoln Memorial and my personal favourite, the Air & Space Museum.
And as Eilidh said, take LOTS of pics.

Hi Jezzie,
So nice to hear you are excited about traveling to the US...
The tower Noni is talking about is the "Washington Monument." A day of visiting the memorials and monuments, and a day for the museums. The Holocaust Museum is a very moving experience. One of my personal favorites, although it is time consuming, is the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Arlington National Cemetery.
...and Eilidh is correct...you should definitely check out the Liberty Bell!
If you are interested in Broadway shows (New York), you should be able to find some pretty good deals online. It'll just take some planning ahead.
Sounds like it will be a wonderful trip for you and your brother!
Can't wait to see some photos posted on Mel's! _________________ Outdoors

jezzie!
Very cool! I love Las Vegas! There is so much to do sometimes its fun to wander about. If you're very lucky, you might find elvis impersonators who will let you take pics with them for tips! They do it for tips! lol
The skies the limit as far as things to do. Circus de soleil shows are incredible! Phantom of the opera is an awesome show! Shopping malls everywhere! I enjoy hitting the lounges in the casino. Free live entertainment is fun. Alot of free shows outside in front of a casino! treasure Island has a pirate /siren sort of show that is alot of fun to watch. I always stay on the sirens side! lol
I've been going the last few years with my sister. It's always a blast.
We'll look forward to hearing about your fun in the us!
it was fabulous
Las Vegas is so much fun! I went to Circus de Soleil show and Phantom of the opera! Riding the mechanic bull was fun too I lasted about a minute before i fell down. Grand Canyon left us breathless, and we even had a pleasure of snow in a desert! (and yes, I had a pleasure to meet Norman, a cow that had a role in City Slickers when it was a baby cow)
We didn't see much of Washington and Philadelphia because we've been just a few hours in each. But in we've been by the White house, Lincon and around, and that was enough for Washington, and in Philladelphia we walked a bit arround the city center before we took a train to New York.
Manhhatan is a story for itself. We stayed in a hotel close to Grand central station. Every morning we had a breakfast on the top of the hotel with the awesome view on skyscrapers and streets. I was suprised by the quantity of people who don't speak english, and those who speak so badly that I couldn't understand them. I don't like crowds and big cities, but I could live in Manhattan. Horse back riding in Central park was fun, even it was so cold I couldn't feel my feet on the horse. We went to Katz's Deli for their famous salami sandwiches. Yum yum I tried to visit some lesbian bars and places, but it was not so possible near my brother and his wife. But it wouldn't be so fun without my girl so I don't regret it. Soho and Noho are neighbourhoods I liked most.
That's the summary of my experiences from USA I could write much much more, but I'm at work and still suffering from jet lag.
Big thanks for all the tips as you can see I used them to have a very good time!
kiss,
jezzie

Wow Jezzie,
You know how to pack a TON of FUN into a vacation!
Great to "hear" the excitement and enthusiasm in your descriptions.
...about a minute on the bull??? I think I'd last about a second!
Hope you are able to visit again sometime! _________________ Outdoors
