How does it feel to have my first novel published?

Well, how do you think it feels?

(And by the way - sorry I haven't been around much lately - I do miss my chums here.)

Last year I signed a commercial contract with an independent publisher in South Africa who wanted to back my first novel. 'Lupa' was written in 2004 and was my first ever work of full-length fiction. Since then I have doggedly refused to self-publish or even take up one of these author-subsidised deals. As things stand now, the indie publisher in SA is hoping the 'Lupa' will be their first runaway best seller. They are interested in taking my second novel too, but the manuscript for that was asked for by a reputable publisher in the UK, so I have my fingers crossed about that too.

'Lupa' is available at Amazon in print and as a Kindle download (search for 'Lupa' and my name Marie Marshall). I hope you'll feel it's worth spending a few shekels on. If you would like to read a little more about it first, then please visit my web site. The address (with spaces, so I don't take up Mel's bandwidth) is http: // mairibheag . com Just click on 'New!' and look for today's blog post, and/or hover your cursor over 'Works' and click on 'Lupa' for a brief editor's overview of the novel.

Okay, okay, I'm really excited... (squeee!)... but with my feet on the ground I know it's going to need a lot of people to decide to buy the novel... No Booker prize yet. Due to problems with printers, the bookshop launch in SA and/or the UK will not go ahead just yet, but hopefully soon.

I don't think they've quite woken up yet, MG - more like stretching, breaking wind. opening one bleary eye...

Very Happy

By the way, it's now available as a PDF download direct from the publisher too. They also think they have at last cracked the problem with domestic printing...
