This Car is Not For Sale
I’ve heard all the reasons.
Felt, filled, and filed them.
Mileage.
Busted engines and emotions.
Lack of funds.
But this wheezing automobile
is nothing a tune-up can’t fix.
It is wrapped in tarp in the driveway.
Starving for summer road trips
and smog checks in off season.
Wouldn’t it be cheaper to give to a junkyard
than to repair?
Only if you're a cheapskate.
It will get a new paint job on Sunday.
No signs of Bondo on Monday.
Smooth sailing the rest of the week.
I have heard the reasons,
and suggestions, for why we can’t continue
to drive,
so why isn’t it a lemon?
Why is there no lemonade in this pitcher?

I truly like this EDA... it works on two levels for me, firstly as a straight forward plea for an old car to be saved and secondly as a metaphor (perhaps?) for now overlooking a person who just needs some TLC to be someone you might love.

MG,
Exact interpretation. At least the intended one anyway. Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed this.
