Night of the Clown

Remember that day when I turned and walked away?
When you didn’t even ask me to stay and we could find no more words to say
No make-up or fools tricks can undo the trail of tears
No not a trace of the smiles you passed my way could make memories of
that dark night go away. Only a fool could trust the things it used to say.
Now you say you can’t go there again,
no never again will you let my smile in………….

So, here I stand with this stupid painted grin like a fool in the circus
Whose stage show became a failed plan
for there is no more us – it’s over cus all I did was fuss
Even though lovin you hurts so bad- still I must

Like a monkey on a trapeze your love took me on a no return flight
Little did I know that nothing I tried would ever be right
When we once soared high above earthly delights
But the swing broke and down we fell and our love became a living hell
Where there used to be you, now it’s a place where only empty dreams stood
From all my broken promises, lies and ‘if I coulds’,
I just never learned to show you love like I should
On me the light of your sun has refused to shine
But the memories of your smile still play on my mind

But I stand here with a painted grin – a fool in the circus
Not seeing there is no more us – oh baby why did we fuss?
When lovin you my heart still must?

Life always seems to kick me when I’m down
And that’s the difference between a fool and a clown
I never meant to hurt you
But now all I can do is swallow my own pride
Blinded by my own game, I didn’t see it coming before it knocked me out
Now everyone but me seems to know what I am all about.

I still remember that day when I walked away
And you didn’t ask me to stay
The night of the clown when I had to prove I didn’t need you around
I thought I was all that, but now I only want you back
So here I stand with a painted grin with no more us to chase

In a fool’s circus I played the clown and to your heart I tried to rush
But at the end of the show, now there’s no more us, no more us
and my heart still loves you cus it must
But baby my sweet baby, there is no more us, no more us
Baby please remember us.........

Beth,

That is a sad and lovely poem...it is sad that two people who love each other can't make it work but sometimes that is the way it works

Hugs,

Beth,

Once again you write the words that echo my life experiences, only from Her point of view. There are no coincidences in this life, I am sure. I can only hope that if She feels the same as you, She will know I am always here for her, no matter the pain.

Thank you Beth, a thousand times over. :: hugs ::
