An Instance of Seeking
=An Instance of Seeking=
My quest began.
The path before me stretching-
Overgrown, underestimated,
The same view as far as the eye could see.
Fear quivered in my chest making it hard to think.
Its constant whimpering destroying my concentration.
Circles.
I swore I passed that tree before!
Where could I have strayed to?
Resting my head at last,
Sleep overtook me.
The boughs of a willow tree whispering above.
I dreamt that a goddess came to me.
Her aura sending warmth through my tired body.
Barely able to focus,
I watched her lips move.
Try as I might I could not hear her words.
As she turned to leave I willed her to turn back.
“Just once” I begged silently,
Heartbroken as her presence faded.
Waking slowly,
My fear gone in the night, replaced.
My chest swelled with certainty, and hope.
“I will find her again” I vowed.
My feet seemed to move of their own accord.
Confident, steady-
They knew the way.
I followed, recalling the goddess in my minds eye.
Days of hunting,
Hours of dreaming,
And still she was always just out of reach.
My chest tight with anticipation
I looked over the edge of the cliff before me.
My heart knew the goddess was down there,
But could I bring myself to take the plunge?
Taking what could be my last breath,
I leapt.
Plummeting through the darkness,
Adrenaline pulsing rhythmically through my veins,
I prepared for the end.
My only regret that I never again saw her face.
Stop.
The air no longer whooshed past,
My stomach was no longer in my throat.
What was touching my back?
Opening my eyes cautiously I was amazed at what I saw.
The goddess smiled down at me,
Clutching me gently to her.
Overwhelmed I began to cry
Grabbing on to her for all I was worth.
Though her aura was soothing,
It wasn’t until she spoke that my crying stopped.
“Hush, love” she said
“Stop your tears.
I have you, and will have you ‘til the end of time.”
The tension melted from my shoulders
And my eyes drifted slowly upwards until they met hers.
“Who are you?” I queried.
Stunned at how my goddess’s promise effected me.
“I am whoever you want me to be.” she replied
Though her eyes belied her sadness.
I thought for a moment.
Gazing the whole time into her eyes.
I knew then what I wanted of this strange, sad angel.
“I want you.” I replied. “Only you.
No tricks, no hiding. Just be yourself.”
The goddess smiled and pulled me closer.
Kissing me on the nose,
Signaling that I had chosen correctly
And that my journey was at an end. _________________ "For one human being to love another; that is perhaps the most difficult of all our tasks... The work for which all other work is but preparation."- Rainer Maria Rilke

Llamafish,
This is absolutely lovely. I felt like I was right there, amongst those trees and listening for the goddess.
This journey may have come to an end, but I hope you have many more interesting journeys ahead of you.

llama,
It's amazing what one hears when the ears are concentrated and connected to a guiding presence. It's even more wonderful when the eyes can see past a rapture of unyielding hurt and pain....and they find the eyes which lead them home to begin a new journey .
I Love This !!!
love it love it love it
