First Date
Take time dressing
With hair messing
Brand new leather jacket
Nerves are fraying
Mirror saying
You look the total packet
Lightning cracking
Storm clouds blackening
Rain starts pelting down
Strong winds blowing
Trees are throwing
Leaves upon the ground
Thunder crashing
Wind gusts lashing
Cars out on the street
Rain now pouring
Anxiety soaring
How long till we meet?
Gutters overflowing
Diving’s hard-going
Can’t see a bloody thing
Windscreen fogged up
Ground all sogged up
What more can this night bring?
Rain not ceasing
Heartbeat increasing
Puddles more like lakes
Moron tail-gating
Feels like ice skating
One skid is all it takes
Arrive white-knuckling
Knees half buckling
Running through the rain
Restaurant flooded
Hope new budded
Washes down the drain
She’s resourceful
Says, of course we’ll
Find another place
Be it Vietnamese
Thai or Lebanese
Confidence on her face
Laughing, joking
Shoes are soaking
Straggling down the street
Cell phone ringing
Good news bringing
Mexicans where we’ll eat
Hours of talking
Soon we’re walking
Back to find our cars
Standing there snuggling
Kissing and hugging
Under rain-washed stars
Agonized pondering
Anguished wondering
Could that be the end
Emails zinging
My heart’s singing
Hi, wanna do it again? _________________ Be yourself.............everybody else is taken!

Love it!
Hugs,

.
rain-washed stars
These are the words I'll most remember from this poem. I love the little turns of phrases.
