Recurrence

Barefoot in summer grass, chasing fireflies
Layered in blankets to toast marshmallows
Lightning calling hairs to attention
while on a dry porch

Stars in a dark sky over a driveway filled with tears,
witness an embrace containing the promise.

in youth I believed
these were all
repeatable experiences
sensations I could replicate
with others

Twenty years gone;
no longer chasing anything
layered in blankets, hiding from life,
daring lightning to strike.
Tired of watching stars burn out.

Forgiveness came in a single glance,
a repeated embrace, still carrying the promise
I love you for eternity .
My soul restored.

It is strange how everything comes full circle....there is always a second chance... if you live long enough

I just don't know how easy it is to forgive

I'm not sure how I missed this the first time around Lost, but it is a beautiful, touching piece of work.
