Everything Shrunk, Except for Her Ears
Everything shrunk.
Her face,
her chin,
her cheeks.
Her legs,
her lungs,
her heart,
her knees.
Everything shrunk.
Her self-worth,
her style,
her unique
sense
of being.
The richness
of her eyes,
once dense
oak, now a mahogany
veneer.
Everything shrunk.
Her dignity,
her love of colors,
and country music.
Her ample amounts of cash,
and her veins;
quenched by
the needle’s hydration.
Everything shrunk…
except for her ears.
Golden-brown potatoes,
microwaved, gutted,
and lazily glued
to the sides of her
shrunken head.
Her lackadaisical earlobes,
have lost some slack,
but are still gigantic,
and holey,
and sugary as peach rings.
But that’s not sugar,
and peaches aren’t brown,
and this just can’t be true,
because everything
else that she had
shrunk.
Except for her womb. 4/28/2013
