They're All Leaving Home
Hi, this weekend we had the heartbreaking task of going thru my father in laws clothes, I went thru them mainly as my partner couldn't face it. He loved dancing and had so many beautiful suits. He wanted all his clothes to go to a cancer charity. This song is about packing his personal belongings up and letting go.
verse 1
I see your shoes have stopped dancing
And all your winter coats you stayed so warm in
All your favourite suits are all stood up alone
They’re all leaving home
To find a new stranger to call their own
chorus
They’re all leaving home
All packed up in bags, it’s time to leave home
There’s always someone new to fit
Someone new to benefit – and that’s it
Packed up – oh they’re all leaving home
bridge
Oh - all the years you wore them so well
And I know this is what you would have wanted - only too well
You were always so giving
But such a shame, a crying shame – Cos you’re not living
And I can’t even call your name
Oh a crying shame - Cos you’re not living
verse 2
I see this world has stopped asking
And oh your footsteps all they ever danced in
All your favourite shirts are creased and alone
They’re all leaving home
To find a new stranger to call their own
chorus
They’re all leaving home
All packed up in bags, it’s time to leave home
There’s always someone new to fit
Someone new to benefit – and that’s it
Packed up – oh they’re all leaving home
Say goodbye - they’re all leaving home
Say goodbye - they’re all leaving home
Say goodbye, say goodbye
Hugs,

little,
beautiful tribute! The letting go is the hardest part. I loved this from beginning to end. Yes, it was sad but it also showed much love .
