Chasing the American dream
Is really not all that it seems
When dead men’s bones
secretly bemoan and bind us to laws of broken stones
In the dark city with man-made lights
horrific images are taught through films in flight
Our open eyes can’t help but peer inside
This false confessional of the new pride
Changing the soul of our own light in front of our eyes
through sound and sight – the twofold plan is a drink mixed in spite
Chasing the American dream down the yellow brick road
Of paved altars and golden idols leaves us feeling stifled from the load
That masks our painted fears with new age polished gleam
Where Nimrod’s rocket’s dance on a moon beam or so it seemed
Transmitting progress from the ground of dust,
but in reality our world continues to regress
concerned not with human souls but with aliens dress
Living in the staged images projected on broken tablet screens
Takes us to the limits of the American gothic obscene
Always reaching toward the ideal goal leading down
This deceptively glamorous paved road of post-Holocaust Sheol
Disguised as scripts and scores of virtuous virgins and villainous whores
Dressed in ancient fairy-tales that confuse tender hearts looking for more
It can cause soft brains to swell with human pride sending all of us on
Intellectual joy rides down new Tzion’s horizon just east of Hollywood drive.
Staging us in mechanically controlled Hollywood roles
Devised by silent runners that duck and dodge killer moles
While the standing still dig new bags with holes
for us to jump in as they cajole
Splicing films together that plays across our minds
Keeping us chained to pagan myths and backward times
Pushing the lesser ones down the rabbit trail hoping to escape the frail
Forced to crouch in rooms that spin and ceilings that stood
Reminding us how we could or should be ‘good’ without touching
The brazen serpent hung on the divine wood.
Remembering just to forget the wisdom men of old that once all told
The true story without stars, gold statues or false glory
They envisioned the human drama in its splendor,
but now we just worship the blood gory
Eyes deceived by preaching profit producers as we sit at their table
gorging ourselves while watching a hundred ways for Cain to kill Abel
All this just to keep the new man’s fable
Designed to keep our perception of human life and divine time unstable
Must we continue living our lives through others eyes?
Never seeing how our own truth is still being disguised
Traveling in the winds of someone else’s dreams
Sends us down channels of elusive serene scenes
Blinding us to natural reality we still accept and bow down
To the latest GOD called T.V.
As we stroll across the sky of make believe,
Waiting for the predicted return of Spielberg’s E.T.
The violent espionage of a previous age
Rains down on our parade
In a torrent of brimstone and purple haze
Little are we amazed that we dwell in the Land of Oz like cows in grass grazed
We sit there aching for more graven images to eat while we stand dazed
Are the foundations of society based on what you really see?
Have we really heard the truth through what movies preach
Why is it that everyone believes nothing they teach
Are the dreams we seek really enabled to help heaven reach?
Chasing the American Dream
Is never what it seems
How many really see it borders on the obscene
Where the ‘good life’ is only given to the crop’s cream
And those that worship physiques and seams on the fantasy screens
Appear to pull air out of steam.
If you’re chasing the dream to find out
What you and life is about
Then in yourself you will assuredly doubt
But the soul that knows will resist the brazen crowd
And the truly devout will find rest in truth most stout.
I mean let's face it they still have hetero's playing gay bravado's
Too scared to let us be ourselves - When will we all stand and shout? _________________ StarGazer
