DREAM

If I could conjure one night to spend beside you
One midnight, one fleeting chance to kiss
If your sheets, our scent, and some sweet voodoo
Had ever met, I wouldn't feel like this.

And if the leaves fall softly out my window
And harsh dry voices whisper of our sin
And if my heart were not a never-married widow
I'd dance you through our wedding night again.

And though my hands hold tomorrow like a question
And though my yearning is a rose's broken stem
If just one night were ours for my heart's quenching
I'd dance you through our wedding night again.
I'd dance you
Through our wedding
Night

Again.

Dream

This is beautifully written and echoes in the heart making you wish that love could always be so simple, so pure and so all consuming. The rhythmic flow of subtle rhymes and the repeated lines give this a dreamlike, lyrical quality that for me, is the essence and beauty of poetry.

You combine some very distinctly different imagery that creates a very fragile yet compelling tone. There is a sense of sadness, of yearning for a time that you know will never be again. In that is the melancholy and the haunting beauty of gifts from the heart.

The words stay with you and you want to re-read time and time again. Simply beautiful.

Thank you so much, all of you, for your comments. Blue, you always put your signature thought and heart into what you have to say and it means a lot to me, just as does your friendship. Shar, I love the "L" rating label, that's great! And Midnights,as for leaving anyone speechless, to me there is no finer compliment than that.

Dear Cookie,

What a beautiful poem again that you've posted here! It is so melodic. It is very pure and no doubt straight from the heart. Love, sensitivity, sadness seem all on edge, it really touches me deep when I read it.

I love the tone you've created. The images are very poetically powerful. The “if’s”, “though’s” and subjunctive mood really give the sense of yearning. You always use the English language very SMARTly. The quality of your writing is astonishing.

Even though I haven’t commented on everything you have posted on this forum so far, I love each and every one of your poems or stories. All of them, no exception.

Big warm hug,

Ts

Thank you, Ts, sweety. I love it when you comment on my work, just as I love having a friend like you.
