First Date

I turned the key in the lock and pushed the door open wide, practically running to get in the door and forgetting to take the key out, so I was yanked backwards sharply.

“Muuuumm” I shouted at the top of my voice, exclaiming, “I got a date!”

“ Oh, that’s nice for you dear” came the unenthusiastic response.

I didn’t let that worry me though, I raced around trying to organise everything for this special, inaugerous event. I had arranged to take the day off from work and planned on a lazy day where I could pamper myself so I would look my best. Tomorrow was the day.

I was hyperactive all night, excited, trepiditious, you name it and I was it. I hardly slept a wink all night. Talk about fantasising, this was a dream come true, I had been asked out by a lesbian and I was all flustered because I had fancied her for what seemed an age.

I must have nodded off at some point during the night, because I woke up with my heart pounding. Looking out of my bedroom window I could see that it was a brilliant hot summers day….whooppeeee….things couldn’t be better, or so I thought!

I put my bikini on and ran downstairs and into the garden, leaping onto the lounger so that I could tone up my non-existent tan and look my best. I squeeled when the springs creaked and pinged tightly shut, pinching the skin under my thigh and giving me a lovely ruby red blood blister.

Rubbing my leg hard, I lay down, still intent on soaking up those gorgeous rays. My lack of sleep from the night before became evident not long after as I slowly drifted off into a very deep sleep.

I woke up feeling refreshed and with that tingling, alive and healthy feeling you get when you have sunbathed for 30 minutes or so, but when I looked at my watch, horror of horrors, 5 hours had passed.

I looked down at my knees and they were bright pink, and my thighs and shins weren’t much better. My chest looked like it had been flambayed on a barbecue and my tummy was as sore as hell.

Sitting up, I was in despair, then realised I could wear my long peach skirt and that would hide the sunburn. Smiling, I was a little relieved and thought I had nothing to worry about.

I continued with this carefree train of thought right up to when I got out of the bath and looked at my reflection in the mirror. I resembled something from a horror movie, my eyes slightly puffed, my nose brilliant pink and my cheeks scorched dry.

Oh my god, I looked like a bloody lobster…. Shocked
