Ok so...first ever story...please be nice =]

Prologue
“Jacobs! Get First Lieutenant Cole here IMMEDIATELY! We have a situation.”
“Yes Captain,” Jacobs replied.
Petty Officer Jacobs exited the main cabin of the Burke class destroyer, the USS Winston S Churchill DDG, and pushed his way through to the lieutenant’s quarters.
“First Lieutenant Cole” Jacobs said as he saluted to the woman in front of him. “Captain demands your attention in the control room.”
Cole recognised the urgency in the young Petty Officer’s voice and got up immediately. Jacobs stepped aside and allowed the Lieutenant to slip past the militant built man. Making her way down the corridors in her navy blue fatigue pants, a charcoal grey t-shirt and a pair of black combat boots she noticed with slight alarm that everyone was either not to be seen or rushing through the corridors in alert. What the fuck is going on here. She entered the command centre and took note of the stressed expressions everyone was displaying, noting the Captain pacing in front of the computers and barking orders.
“Captain?” Blair announced as she saluted the man.
“Lieutenant, we have a situation” Captain Stewart said as he pointed towards the systems. “We have an unidentified object a few clicks from here. It’s headed straight for us and is showing no signs of slowing down. It’s traveling at an alarming speed. All attempts at contact have failed.”
“Sir?” Blair inquired while taking note of the active sonar readings.
“Defensive action” he said, “I want fire on that thing if it gets within two clicks of here.”
“Sir, yes sir” came the chorused response by the fellow soldiers.

Blair watched the screens vigilantly. The object stayed on course and showed no signs of slowing down.
“Fire on the target. 35 degrees of North” the Captain barked.
The soldiers readied themselves. The missile was launched and headed straight for the object. Not a single crew person blinked. Everyone watched as the object disappeared from their screens. The target was destroyed and the sailors cheered at their victory.

“Captain, Lieutenant, you better take a look at this” The Petty Officer pointed at his computer shaking his hand in doing so. Advancing on the sailor’s location they looked upon the screen in shock as five more objects appeared on the computer completely surrounding the ship.
“Shit!” the Captain and the First Lieutenant uttered in unison,
“I want everyone to their respective stations. Fire at the targets brace for impact and pray to god that we make it out of this alive,” the Captain ordered into the PA system as he readied himself for what was to come.
“Lieutenant I want you to prepare the emergency evacuation equipment, this might hurt” the Captain breathed as he wiped the beading sweat from his forehead.
“Yes Sir!” Blair saluted before retreating towards the bridge to make sure life preservers were present. As she headed back towards Command central the walls of the vessel began to shake violently and she was thrown against one of large pipes overhead. Her eyelids started to flutter close as she heard the faint sounds of the alarm ringing. Drifting back and forth between unconsciousness, she rallied her senses to take stock of the situation.
“Lieutenant are you alright” the Petty Officer asked before helping her up.
“Yes, I’m fine. What’s the situation?” The lieutenant breathed before steadily bringing herself upright.
“It’s pretty bad ma’am, after the wave of five another four were located directly behind them.” He said.
“What are the Captain’s orders?” Blair asked. Her instincts told her she already knew what was about to be said.
“He wants everyone to prepare for emergency evac, the hull has been breached and there is severe damage on the rudder and one of the propellers” the officer uttered bleakly.
“Jesus Christ” Blair whispered as she took in the damage of the situation. She inhaled a deep breath, “Okay I need to know how big the breech is before anything further. I’m going to check with the Captain and start evacuating everyone”.
The Petty Officer nodded and trekked down the narrow corridor towards the rear of the ship. Blair turned face towards Command Central for information on further action. “Captain, what’s the situation?”
“Communications are down, the exterior hull has been breached at two critical points, as well as our propulsion and manoeuvring machinery. We are sinking and drifting slowly in a metal tub” Stewart muttered.
“Can we make repairs?” Blair asked surveying the warning signs on the computers.
“No, the damage is confined to two key areas we are taking in water at an alarming rate and at the moment we are at the mercy of the elements.”
“They knew exactly where to hit us” Blair breathed, “Okay, so what’s our plan of action?” she asked.
“We need to activate our emergency stress beacon and then get the hell off this ship, I will not put any lives unnecessarily in danger. Notify the engine room to start pumping out the excess water, buy us some time” the Captain responded.
“Yes, Captain” Blair saluted and took her leave to gather all personal on board the sinking ship. Making haste through the long corridors she noticed that several doors had been sealed due to damage. She made her way through alternate routes to make sure everyone was well aware of the immediate peril that had befallen them. Finally rounding up all of the remaining personnel she headed directly for the deck to begin the evacuation procedures.
The Captain, who was still making preparations for the evacuation, had been called over by one of the command centre crew. The sailor anxiously pointed to the computer screen and announced the presence of another incoming object. “Troops I need you all to finish sending stress calls to everyone and head to the decks” the Captain ordered. The remaining sailors finished sending out signals and hurriedly left for the deck leaving the Captain in the bridge.
Blair checked off all crew members and began to hand out life preservers and evacuate them noting that the Captain was still not with them. Handing out the last remaining life preservers she decided to head back to the bridge and check on the Captain. Hastily making her way back through the bridge about three feet from the threshold, a deafening blast reverberated off the walls and through her backwards on her ass. Fighting her way through the deafening white noise, she steadily raised herself to her feet. “Captain? Captain!?” Blair hollered towards the bridge entering the room cautiously, taking in the damage. Blair moved around the room noting that most of it had been shattered. Debris strewn across the room. “Captain?” Blair tried again, while carefully moving around the room. The explosion had caused the room to turn dark obscuring her vision, while flickering computer screens guided her. The ship began to groan powerfully. “Captain?” she called more urgently. With no response she continued to move her way around the room, nearly completing a full circle. Her face hit the floor in panic her hands outstretched to the cause of her loss of balance. Her hands landed on a large combat boot. Her fears realised, she patted her way along the form that was attached to the boot. She reached the torso and her eyes tracked to where she assumed the Captain’s head would be found. The flickering lights presented no head but a singed off lower half of the body. Blair bowed her head in a moments silence to mourn her fallen comrade before she evacuated back to the deck.
Her fellow crew members had already evacuated from the USS Winston S Churchill into the life boats and were situated just a few feet from the large vessel waiting for their commanding officers to join them. The closest life boat pushed forward to allow Blair a safer boarding. “Where is the Captain?” a sailor asked but the words fell on deaf ears. The sailors realised her body language and mourned their Captain.

The night would not allow grievance for the sailors as moments after the chaos began a grisly storm. The storm showed no mercy as the small life boats thrashed about with the mountainous waves. Blair prepared for the worst as the back of the tiny vessel she was situated in, lifted against the towering wall of water. Her stomach on the verge of launching through her throat as she screamed and became airborne, gravity dragging her down in an instant. She collided with the unforgiving liquid.
The storm overhead became worse by the minute. Her muscles aching, she struggled to look around and spot her fellow crew members. Blair struggled to get any sense of orientation as the powerful currents continued to thrust and jolt her body. She could not see any of her team. She reached for the light transmitter on her life preserver to alert everyone to her whereabouts, while keeping her movements limited against the currents in hope of preserving her energy. Unbeknownst to Blair a 15ft wave had started to crash on top of her and darkness had ensued.

Part 1
A drift in the sea for several days had felt like an eternity. She was alone, severely dehydrated and hungry, she almost believed death would take its grip. Pushing through bouts of unconsciousness as the sea guided her to a beach in god only knows where. Her body began to move on its own towards the sandy shores, leaving her helpless and vulnerable for hours. She awoke with vomit of her own almost choking her, managing to roll her body onto her stomach as she heaved. Regathering her strength she pulled herself over to the tree line to cool herself and determine her situation. Water first, then shelter then food. With this in mind she began to form a plan for water.
Taking her army knife that had been strapped against her leg, she cut the life preserver at the collar to form a bowl with the mask. Situating it in the middle of the shore where she was certain it wouldn’t be taken with the tide, she dug a small hole in the sand so the makeshift bowl wouldn’t tip and then covered the top with another small plastic piece of the suit keeping it attached with the hairband that kept in place her dark red wavy hair. Convinced that her makeshift bowl was well secured Blair headed back for the tree line to preserve her left over energy and drifted to sleep, she would wait for the morning for the helmet to fill.

Dusk turned to Dawn and she woke to a cool breeze licking her blistering sunburnt features. Waking up momentarily disorientated, she crawled over to her make shift bowl, uncovering the lid and greedily drinking the contents. She lay the container back to its home with the lid on top and began making more bowls also creating a little baggie to pour into. Hey stomach started to complain angrily. The list will be swapped as her stomach won the battle for food instead of shade. Searching for food at this point in time was out of the question as she had not surveyed the land and was too tired to do so. She focused on a long but slim branch and decided it would be perfect for spear fishing. Surveying the immediate area, her eyes rested upon large blades of glass that she could easily use for string and small twigs that she could tie as prong. Finally she needed glue or resin to help hold the prongs on her makeshift spear in place. Walking tiredly over to a large tree, stabbing the tree with her knife hope for some small amount of sap. “Perfect” she uttered.

Waiting for the afternoon sun to what she predicted to be about 1530, she ambled down to the shoreline honing in on the rocky but shallow area. Knee deep in the salty liquid she grabbed her combat knife to slit her hand, letting the warm trickles of blood hit the water, clenching her jaw she rinsed the bloody mess. Waiting stock still with her spear at the ready expecting her prey within the hour. As if sensing her eagerness, a baby reef shark breezed through the shallow water in its investigation. Squeezing a few more drops of blood, she willed the small shark towards her, “Come on…here sharkie, sharkie, sharkie” whispering to herself to build up her courage. The large fish growing eager for food, rushed towards her. The timing had to be perfect if struck too early or too late, the implications could be disastrous. “Wait for it…wait for it…wait for it” Blair wouldn’t dare blink as her situation became more intense. The shark could only be described as about an inch away from her body before she struck, using all the strength she could muster to come down on the sea creature, its tail thrashing in the air wildly. Once she was sure the shark had passed on, she grabbed the creature by one of its gills and headed for the sandy shore, pleased with her catch. She took out her knife and began the process of gutting the small shark letting the tide take the innards also rinsing her prey thoroughly with the beach water.

Moving back to the tree line with her catch in hand, Blair sat herself down and began to cut chunks from her meal. Without a fire to cook the meat she ate it raw. It took three tries before she was able to properly ingest her food. Wiping the knife on her fatigue pants to clean the object, she began to make another makeshift container. Digging a hole in the sand and placing the plastic material bordering the edges, she stored what was remaining of her food within its new home. Wrapping the flesh with more material, she buried her meal in the sand to keep it cool. Settling in for the night with a contented smile playing across her lips as she was no longer hungry.

Chapter 2
Unfocused eyes strained against the heat of the sun in an attempt to clear the picture of Blair’s temporary surroundings. She noticed a dark hooded figure standing in the distance turning away from the beach and moving towards the thick of the island. Blair held her breath as the peculiar form blurred out of focus before vanishing completely. “Wait! Come back. Please! Help me!” She shouted as she tried to gather her thoughts on what she had just witnessed. Was she hallucinating? She can’t have been, she had kept herself hydrated and fed. Blair rubbed her eyes just in case her eyes were playing tricks on her and looked for the hooded figure. What the fuck…
She summed up the experience to her fatigue and the heat.

Today was a new day and it was time she found a way off the island. Blair placed her trusty knife back in the holder against her leg and made her way down the beach where the water was contained. She poured the contents into her makeshift baggy and tied the edges together with her hair band. Attaching the baggy around her neck with long grass strands. To cover all her bases while she explored the island, she carved out the sand and gathered debris to form a large S.O.S that would hopefully be seen from an aerial view.

Feeling brave Blair headed for the tree line towards the heart of the island. The jungle was a lush green thick of ancient trees, vines and plants. Trees reaching for the sun and almost blocking out the light, vines snaking around each tree and connecting the next. Blair picked up a large stick suitable for walking against to aid her exploration. The air smelt fresh and pure, free from all the poison that had permeated her lungs and a feeling of peace washed over her. I must have died. She sighed. This place is too nice to exist. She moved forward to a clearing and halted. Her eyes tracked the light to the centre where she saw two dark figures hunched over what she could make out was a carcass. She studied them carefully, quietly moving behind a tree to not make her presence known. She watched as the natives bound the legs of the animal and tie a medium length branch across the limbs. Her stomach growled as she took in the natives’ prey. What I wouldn’t give for a steak she thought. Aware of how hungry she was she began to turn around and head back for the beach. Upon turning the full 180 degrees Blair noticed two things. The first was a stranger standing behind her only a hairs breadth away about a foot taller than her own height. The second was the large club he held above his head ready to swing across her face. A breath escaped her lips and then all became dark.
Blair woke disorientated to strange noises and a dull, heavy throb to the left side of her head. Looking down, she noticed that her feet were bound at the ankles and her hands bound behind her back. Focusing on the strange noises to her left she realized the natives gathered together in front of a large man with piercings all over his face. The piercings weren’t the everyday metal that you would see teens sporting. What punctured these holes looked like pieces of bone with peculiar decorations attached to either side. This man was riddle with them, along his eyebrows through to the ridge of his nose all the way down to just below the lip. He had a mess of long black hair that resembled spiders dread locking his hair. He was very muscular and stood about six foot four inches tall. His clothes were a picture of someone who shouldn’t be fucked with, bones were weaved through the scraps of leather he had positioned over his body. Small skulls were attached to the right side of his shoulder, moulded together by some sort of black resin or tar. The left shoulder had embedded large teeth against the leather pad pointing outwards to represent spikes. He had a collar of what looked to be a large creature’s jaw line however she noted different types of teeth used, this was positioned just under his own chin. The outfit was complete with boned ribs curved around the front of his torso, positioned exactly the way he own ribs would be positioned. If she had been in a different situation and saw his outfit, she would have thought that it was the epitome of awesome.

The chief had started to point in Blair’s direction and then in the direction of a tent close by. She couldn’t make out what they were saying but she guessed that it was anything but good. The natives started to walk towards her and so she pretended to be unconscious. They dragged her towards the tent and hoisted her on a stone slab. Blair opened her eyes slightly to steal a peak to take in her new surroundings. She noted several urns in front of animal carcasses and concluded that this tent must be a preparation chamber. Her situation had become dire. She tried to squirm out of her bindings but it was no use. She started to scream and the natives began to close in on her own with weapons raised, I am going to die here she thought as she closed her eyes waiting for each breath to be her last. She expelled her breath and opened her eyes, the natives were no longer standing above her, and upon further investigating she noticed her bindings were also cut. “What the fuck” she breathed as she took in her surroundings. Reaching down to grab her knife and ascending to her feet she noticed the natives hacked up on the floor, throats slit and holes in their chest cavities. She started to make a break for the back of the tent to escape, whatever killed those humans had done her a favour, but she didn’t want to stick around if it came back. She sliced a hole through the material and began to run, as fast as her legs could carry her. She could hear the horde gaining on her as she tried to run through the crowded trees. She had stumbled quite a few times, tripping over the dense forest before making her way to a clearing. She glanced back to see the tribe advancing and willed her legs to move faster. Looking forward through the clearing she noticed that the horizon didn’t meet the other line of trees. A cliff! It’s a cliff! She realised. She hesitated and looked back at the group of natives. They were gaining fast. Eventually she realized the cliff was her only escape and forced her legs to move faster than before. She reached the edge and hesitated, looking down she realized it was about a 25ft drop. She closed her eyes and leaped aiming for the darker blue part of the river. The cold dark water licking every inch of her skin as she sank deeper in the river. The currents moved rapidly against her body pushing her downstream, she was struggling to hold her breath. She tried to fight against the rapids to reach the surface losing energy in the process. Using her last ounce of energy she kicked her way to the surface from the bedrock. She breached the water’s skin and gasped for air as the currents swept her back under. She didn’t fight she allowed the currents to whisk her downstream. The currents moving so rapidly that she hit a large boulder that held her in place as the water smacked the other side of her body. She tried with all her might to climb up the boulder to breathe once again. Her upper torso reaching the surface and her lungs filled with air once again. She risked a few moments for herself before she glanced around to see if she was in danger. As she looked up an arrow whistled past her face barely missing her nose. It was time to go. She moved back to the safety of the water and swam along with the currents speeding down the river. She travelled so fast that she didn’t have enough time to register or react to the large bedrock in front of her. She collided with the heavy mass with a thud that knocked her unconscious, darkness ensued and she drifted belly up down the river.

A painful pinch on the nose suddenly woke Blair from the haze. The pain had gotten worse so she brought her hand up to her face. A strange extension covered her nose, she raked a hand over her face to break it off, flicking it away. She watched as a small crab skittered away back to a safe place. Coming to her senses she realised that she had drifted to the opposite side of the bank. She rose to her feet and ran as fast as she could through the jungle looking for any place that she could hide from her aggressors. She escaped as far away as she could until her legs could carry her no longer. Spotting a cliff face and hoping for a small crack in the hard stone to provide some shelter, she started walking alongside the rock. As luck would have it there was a large rock slab protruding from the face and hollowed a fraction just underneath. She made her way over to the entrance and sat in the corner where she couldn’t be easily seen. In exhaustion she began to rest but she held her knife in her hand in case of danger.

Chapter 3
Blair stretched her stiff muscles on the cold stone floor feeling pain throughout her entire body. She didn’t feel like moving but knew she had to. The place she had rested for the night wasn’t as hidden as she would have liked. Clutching the baggie she had tied around her neck, she elevated it to her lips and took a sip of water that she had prepared the day prior and placed back in its resting spot. It took several tries for her to stand, ignoring the pleas her body had against her actions. My walking stick would come in handy right about now she pondered as she took a few careful paces towards the open area. Leaving the comfort of her temporary hiding place, she moved along the cliff face for an easier access point for the top. Higher ground being a better vantage point from down below. She wandered through the jungle for several hours before she came across a steady incline Fuck yes! Blair began the steady trek up the mountain, her calf muscles beginning to cramp at the arduous task. She became so tired that she began to crawl up the slope, resting frequently. Silent tears had started to fall down her cheeks in frustration but giving up was not an option, so she pressed on. Slowly but surely she reached the top. She breathed heavily but slowly as she closed the distance between her and the closest tree. Her body gave way and she collapsed under the tree’s protection.

Blair woke to the sudden shine of the sun’s rays in her eyes. Lifting her hand to cover her face from the blinding light which became a hassle, she decided that as good as this tree was, she would have to find or create her own shelter, deciding on the latter due to the previous disaster of exploring the island a few days beforehand. She made plans to create the shelter that leaned against the tree she had slept beside the night before. Grudgingly she searched for as many branches and sticks that she could find strewn across the jungle floor to create her shelter. She placed the largest branch diagonally connecting the jungle floor to the tree. Then placed the branches and twigs from largest to smallest in the form of a ‘V’ shape along the main branch. Next she placed the large twigs across the face of the walls to cover the gaps. Once the main section of the shelter was created, Blair set of to look for as many large leaves as possible to provide some cover in case it rained. After the last leaf was placed on top of her shelter and slightly weaved into the core, she sat down to rest and marvel at her creation. After a moment of relaxing she generated plans to create another solar water still. She moved towards an open area and began cutting holes into the ground with her knife. After the soil was fairly soft she began to excavate the centre of the soft soil with her hands moving the soil to make a foot in depth. She left the hole momentarily to find a bowl shaped object that would hold water and some green leaves for the base. She returned to the hole she had dug and placed the leaves at the bottom later situating the round object on top of the leaves and placing a few more leaves around it. Once the inside was complete she detached the baggie from around her neck drinking what was left from the inside. She removed the hairband from her baggie and outstretched the plastic material over the hole. Grabbing four rocks and placing three in a triangle the plastic around the edges of the plastic with the fourth smallest for the centre, angling the plastic at a slope towards the inside bowl. Moving away from her solar still she picked up a few decent long branches and sat by the shelter to carve the branches into spikes during her downtime. Making each branch a replica in size of her arm and spiked at the end. Blair made plans for the next day to set traps around her campsite for food as well as an unwelcomed visitors. With these plans in mind she dozed off in her new homemade shelter.

Blair woke and stood slowly so as not to allow the blood to rush to her head. Her plans today consisted of more digging and planning traps for safety and food. Surveying the immediate area, she marked key points to plant her traps. She grabbed her knife and starting stabbing the dirt, removing the soil and repeating the process until she was confident the holes were large enough to place the spikes. She gathered the spikes and spread them throughout the holes, spearing the blunt ends into the dirt so that they stood erect. So the traps weren’t visible she gathered weak branches, twigs and leaves of all sizes. She placed the large branches of the holes so that the twigs and leaves could better cover the gaps without falling through. Pleased with her efforts she camouflaged the cover with the unused dirt and marked each pit with a moderately sized stone at both ends. She walked back over to her shelter and with the day almost spent decided rest. Tomorrow was a day for crafting weapons and trying to hunt.

Blair came to her senses with the sudden tickle along her leg. Her eyelids snapped open as all her body became heightened in the feeling she was experiencing along her leg and lower torso. She raised her head slightly to investigate the situation. “Oh my god” she whispered to herself. A Snake! A fucking Snake! Whimpering slightly as the snake continued its perusal of her body. She held her breath willing for the small reptile to leave. As if hearing her thoughts the small green snake began to separate from her body and exit from the shelter. She shook slightly rubbing her lower leg as a memory came flooding back.
“Daddy! Please, help me! Daddy!” Blair screamed as the thick olive brown snake slithered aggressively toward her. “Daddy!”
The door was all but knocked down as Blair’s father swooped into the room. “What is it sweetie?” Joshua asked unseeing the slithering form that had backed off momentarily. The snake hissed its presence before striking and latching onto the lower leg of an eight year old Blair with its fangs. She screamed in total agony as Joshua ripped the snake from her leg throwing it across the room. He gathered Blair into his arms and rushed her towards his car speeding out of the driveway and onto the streets. He slammed the accelerator pedal to the floor of the car. They emerged through the ER of the local hospital. The nurses looked at the small redhead in Joshua’s arms and immediately rushed into action. “What happened to her” the nurse on the left bellowed as she directed Joshua to the closest room available. “She was bitten by a snake…Uhh…brown in colour, I think it was a cottonmouth snake” Joshua announced. The nurse inspected the infected area and took note of the swelling around the leg. “Daddy, I can’t move my leg” Blair whispered groggily. “It’s ok sweetie, everything is going to be fine” He uttered as he held his daughter’s hand. The closest nurse checked Blair’s temperate, heart rate and signalled for the other nurse to grab the doctor. The doctor burst through the doors. The nurse checking Blair’s vitals walked over to the doctor to discuss the situation. “Ok, I need four vials of Crofab Anti-venom infused with the IV drip pronto!” the doctor ordered. The nurse left the room and the doctor introduced himself to his patient. “Hello, I’m Doctor Carson…”Dr Carson addressed “We’ll soon have you fixed up in no time.”
“Thank you” Joshua whispered as he watched his daughter in pain.
The nurse returned with the IV infused with the anti-venom fluid bag and attached it to the chrome base stand next to the bed. The nurse then connected the tube and drip chamber to the fluid bag. With the preparation work completed she then proceeded to insert the needle into Blair’s vain on her wrist and covered the delicate positioning of the needle with tape. “Ok, the anti-venom is in…we will monitor her for the first hour to make sure there is no allergic reactions” Dr Carson announced, “Joshua, your quick response time is what will determine her recovery speed…” “Do you have any idea on roughly the time on which the incident occurred?”
“Umm, about 20 minutes ago” Joshua recalled.
“Ok, and you carried her I presume?”
“Yes”
“Very good…she should make a full recovery but we will keep her here for the next few days to make sure nothing unexpected happens” Dr Carson concluded. With the problem taken care of the doctor walked out of the room towards his next patient.
“Thank you” Blair uttered as he left.
Blair sat up and crawled out of the shelter peaking cautiously to see if her intruder was anywhere to be seen. Her eyes moved to the distance as she saw the small green form slither away. She breathed a sigh of relief that suddenly became hitched in her throat as a large grey eagle swooped in and captured the small snake in its talons. Making short work of killing it, the eagle flew away to higher ground. “Holy Crap” Blair sputtered as her hand moved to cover her mouth and her eyes went wide with shock. The island was showing Blair exactly what it meant to stay. “Survive or die” she muttered. It was time to make weapons and learn to properly hunt. She moved from her shelter and stood to stretch the stiff muscles that were beginning to cramp from the confined space. She began to pace back and forth struggling to find a solution for possible weapons. “I need something projectile…but what could pass as string” she began. Pacing for a few more minutes before she realised that she had the answer the whole entire time. Looking down at her feet she began to untie her combat boots and take off her shoes. Her feet breathing easily as she unlaced her shoe laces. She chose not to put her shoes back on and instead moved to put the laces as well as her boots back in her shelter. With the problem out of the way she moved towards the largest closest tree and using her knife cut strips of bark from the trunk, moving the bark to the sun to dry out for tinder. Blair walked back to the tree where she had collected the bark and began to pierce the flesh of the tree with her knife causing it to bleed. Once she was satisfied with how deep the gash was in the tree she moved on to find suitable branches with a nice arc in the centre as well as several smaller sticks that were relatively straight. She couldn’t find any in the immediate vicinity so she walked over to a large tree that had several vines twisting at the height. She tugged on the vines to make sure they were sturdy enough to hold her weight. Satisfied, she began the long strenuous climb up the large body of timber using her upper body strength hauling her body towards the top. She reached the closest branch and situated herself for rest, straddling the branch with her back to the trunk. She surveyed the land, catching her breath at how beautiful the landscape was regardless of the danger. At the peak of the treetops Blair could spot almost all movements the island was willing to reveal to her. From the group of birds taking flight in the sun, to the small (in perspective) creatures scampering across the island floor. Suddenly the crack of a twig in the distance had caught her attention. She focused in the direction of the noise, careful not to make any noise of her own. The black form moved magnificently on all fours, its coat shimmering in the sunlight. Blair watched transfixed to the large animal as it stalked prey of its own. Studying the creature as it closed in on its target, moving slowly but graciously. Power moving from muscle to muscle as the large creature readied its attack. The movement was swift and the large black creature finished the hunt within the minute, dragging its kill back from whence it came. Blair sat and studied the island a few moments more before setting out to find prey of her own.
It was almost nightfall before Blair returned with her catch of the day, settling with a few small critters. She would make use of the whole carcass for her general needs.

Chapter 4

To what Blair could recall she had been stranded on the island for about two and a half weeks with no sign of leaving or being rescued anytime soon. During this time she had learn to hunt more effectively and had even learned to cannibalize her prey for different needs besides food. Using skins for materials like clothing and better shelter, the bones for weaponry and armour and the innards for bait for her more deadly predators. Her reflexes and senses had become much more acute as she worked her way up the food chain of the island. She had finally adapted to the way of life on this island.

From the treetops Blair sat to watch the scenery taking in the peaceful ambiance of the island. Feeling comfortable and safe upon her perch, she drifted to sleep. The dream that followed had been a rather peculiar one…
Blair walked a lonely path down cold marble white steps, mist that had blanketed her surroundings whisked away as her foot landed on the bottom step uncovering a small clearing. White trees adorned with mist as well as crystal like leaves stood on either side of the small field and the ground was overlayed with a pearlescent lawn. Blair was taken back with how beautiful and serene the clearing was however felt a slight detachment from the view as loneliness had crept inside her soul. She had started to move towards the centre of the field, the mist uncovering further with every step she took. She had almost reached the midway point when the mist unveiled a woman standing a small distance facing away. “Hello?” Blair questioned the strange visitor while moving cautiously towards her. The smaller woman was draped in a deep Prussian blue silk dress that clung to her womanly figure while flowing off her hips in the most elegant manner. Her light coffee coloured skin and charcoal coloured curly waist length hair had complemented the dress beautifully. Blair gasped as the vision before her captivated her soul, an unexplainable yearning filling her existence. She longed for the woman to turn around, longing to just glimpse if only for a moment the beauty Blair knew this woman beheld. As if on cue the woman started slowly turning around, which felt like eons in Blair’s mind. Excitement surged through Blair’s body as she gazed into the woman’s eyes.

Blair woke to the chilly air surrounding her body. The air feeling slightly cooler on her cheeks, she brought her hands to meet her face feeling the wet sensation as she touched her skin. “I was crying?” Blair breathed, concluding her feelings to be that of loneliness. She peered up into the sky, glaring at the sinister storm that was brewing just offshore. “Time to seek shelter” she muttered. The thunder had become horrendous with lightning striking the ground dangerously close. The wind had picked up becoming almost cyclonic, the trees bending almost horizontally. Blair made it back to her shelter and began watching the storm intently. She noted that quite a few trees had been mowed down due to the sheer ferocity of the wind. One of the larger trees in the distance had been struck by lightning splintering the tree in half. The larger tree had starting to collapse, causing a large eagle to flee from its nest. Blair watched as the eagle started circling the falling tree from above swooping every now and then in sheer panic. The large bird made one more desperate swoop before the large tree swatted the eagle as it hit the island floor. Curious as to why the large bird flew so desperately around the tree, she immediately set out to investigate ignoring the perilous storm. She reached the large forest tree that had been struck, the new top of the tree had been smouldered leaving burnt wood and smoke. Blair searched the old tree top looking for any clue as to why the large bird had sacrificed itself. Searching through the thick leaves she stumbled on a few large scattered feathers. Crouching down to lift one of the smaller branches, she noticed a large dark grey wing spread out to almost a metre in length. She bent down to stroke the poor creature when the wing had started to move but not in its natural way. The feathers ruffled as a small lump began to move out from under the wing away from its protection. What greeted Blair was not small a vermin taking in the spoils of the storm but a baby bird. “You poor thing” she whispered to the baby eagle also noting that the baby had been favouring one foot as it cautiously protected its own kin. Blair reached for her little baggie slowly to pull out some dried meats that she carried for snacks. She brought a small piece to her mouth and chewed it before holding it out for the small bird. The young chick tried hard to stay away from Blair, but the sheer hunger over ruled all of the bird’s basic instincts and the bird eventually limped towards Blair’s hand, eating the meat eagerly. Blair sat with the baby eagle while she allowed it to get used to her presence. She stroked the chick’s feathers while it began to warm to her slowly creating a bond of friendship between the two.

The storm had finally subsided before Blair started heading back to her shelter while cradling the baby chick in her arms. The small creature appreciating the comfort and protection from Blair. The two finally reached home base and retired for the night, the traumatic events had taken a toll over the little eagle. Blair wrapped the baby in furs keeping it as close as possible to her body’s warmth. “So what should I call you little one?” Blair mumbled to the sleeping form in her arms. “How about Snow…because of your fluffy white feathers?” “You’re right, it suits now but it probably won’t suit later once you shed those baby feathers”. Blair looked down instantly knowing the name of her new friend would be “How about Storm?” Blair looked down as the small bird chirped its approval however still sound asleep. She chuckled to herself slightly, as she felt a friendship forming with the small creature.

Chapter 5

Months had passed since Blair had stranded on the island with little hope of leaving. Blair had finally creating a camouflage suit out of animal furs and bones giving her a predatory look which most of the creatures on the island feared. She had upgraded her weapons using poison on the ends of her arrows and daggers. Her skills and reflexes had improved to the point that she was as quick as the wind and as quiet as a shadow. Whatever Blair lacked is where Storm completed in fighting style spotting prey from the sky as well as her sharp claws and strong beak ready to take down anything that slips by Blair. They became a perfect hunting pair.

The fresh water supply had been getting low, so Blair decided to trek down to the fresh water stream that ran through the middle of the island, with Storm following from a safe distance in the sky. They reached the creek without a hitch, Storm sitting on a nearby branch while Blair decided to take the opportunity to bathe herself. Stripping down to allow her exposed flesh to be free of the dirt and grime that had collected over the days. She scrubbed her skin as much as she could to get the grime and smell off, once she was satisfied she dipped under the water so the current would wash the dirt away. As she resurfaced she noticed a hooded figure close to where her clothes lay. She’d seen this strange person before, remembering the vision she had when she became first stranded on the island months ago. Blair moved to collect her clothes while keeping a close eye on person in front of her, sliding on her clothing as fast as she could without breaking sight. Once satisfied with her outfit she slowly made her way toward the person in front of her, moving just behind the cloaked person. The hooded figure raced through the trees while Blair was hot on the mysterious figure’s tail. “Wait!” Blair cried out. Storm noticing the commotion began to follow from a height leaving this situation to her master. Blair and the hooded figure raced through the jungle each moving as fast as they could, one chasing and one escaping. The figure before Blair would fade out and then fade back in even further away. They raced through the jungle until they both reached the highest point on the island, a volcano that looked like it wanted to erupt but held back. The heat in the air causing Storm to take perch upon Blair’s shoulder using the perch made from bone that Blair had skilfully worked into the armour piece. “Why did you lead me here?” Blair asked the mysterious figure in front of her, but instead of replying the figure moved further away. Blair and the mysterious person moved further up the Volcano until they reached the top, Blair’s curiosity getting the better of her. Blair continued to ask questions, but upon receiving no answers and feeling somewhat aggravated she decided to confront the hooded figure head on. She hadn’t noticed how soft the rocks and rubble were held together on this patch of land, losing her footing she began to fall in the volcano. Storm startled at losing his perch began to frantically flap its wings blowing dust in Blair’s face. She couldn’t hold for much longer as the dirt began land in her eyes. “Help me!” Blair cried out to the mysterious person in an attempt to be rescued. The rocks that she had been grasping had broken off from the edge sending her down the volcano cavity. Storm began to swoop in panic in an attempt to rescue its master, the grey eagle barely connecting with its master when the mysterious person dove beside both Blair and Storm lightly toughing them both.

‘This is it’ Blair thought to herself as she fell deeper and deeper.

Part 2
Chapter 6

Blair walked down the white marble stairs as the mist cleared, a feeling of déjà vu sweeping over her memory. She hit the bottom step and the mist deserted the area in front of her, unveiling a clearing with white trees with mist and crystal leaves located on either side of the small field. The ground was covered with a pearlescent lawn. Blair recognised this area, all of it seemed eerily familiar as she walked to the centre of the field, the mist again clearing with every step she had taken. She had almost reached the midway point when the mist unveiled a woman standing a small distance facing away. The slightly smaller woman was draped in a deep Prussian blue silk dress that clung to her womanly figure while flowing off her hips in the most elegant manner. ‘Yes I remember this dream very well’ Blair thought to herself. The dream in question had haunted her thoughts, although her imagination hadn’t been quite this vivid. “Fuck it” Blair cursed to herself as she ran towards the mysterious woman throwing caution to the wind. The mysterious woman had started blurring and began to fade returning further away. ‘This didn’t happen last time’ she mused as she slowed to a walking pace. She kept her stride whilst walking to the strange woman, ‘she is more beautiful than I remember’ Blair thought to herself as she watched in the distance this angel before her. The yearning recapturing her soul as she stared onwards. Once again Blair longed for the woman to turn around and as if on cue, as if reading her exact thoughts, the woman started slowly turning around. Excitement rippling through her body as she gazed into the woman’s eyes, light blue, almost silver pools captivating her soul. Blair edged closer to the women, she hadn’t reached this far last time. Blair began to reach out to this mysterious woman now only a few feet away, inching closer to her destination.
“Wake up” The mysterious woman spoke in a soft silvery voice.
“Pardon?” Blair murmured, too lost in thought over how mesmerizing the woman’s voice was to her ears.
“Wake up!” The woman repeated, although the voice had been altered, lowered, vulgar and toneless.
“What?” Blair answered the strange voice confusing her.
The woman reached for Blair’s shoulder, jerking it, removing her from the serenity of the dream.

Blair stirred and her eyes gradually opened. ‘Where am I’ she thought as she tried to comprehend her surroundings, the headache almost making it impossible.
“You’re up. Good!” a gruff, unknown voice bellowed into her ear. The stranger yanked her shoulder and pulled Blair onto her feet while simultaneously turning her around and handcuffing her.
“What? What are you doing?” Blair demanded of the stranger as she was manhandled towards an unrecognisable vehicle. The foreign shape of the vehicle caught her by surprise, again she tried grasp her surroundings. The darkness of the night making it impossible to truly understand her location, although realising that she was no longer on the island. Small pools of light uncovered impressive metallic vertical structures reaching for the sky. The ground covered in hexagons illuminating the streets and one’s path while what Blair could assume as roads were replaced by rails. “Where am I?” Blair asked to the stranger who gruffly responded by shoving her into the back of the foreign vehicle. Resisting proved pointless as the door was slammed in Blair’s face. Blair looked to the front of the vehicle as a bright light began to blind her. She tried to struggle out of the confines of her handcuffs when a wave of dizziness washed over, she became lethargic and her eyes drowsy. Darkness followed.

“Hey, are you awake?” a voice whispered, waking Blair from her sleep. She slowly opened her eyes and picked herself off the ground into a seated position. ‘What did I eat?’ She thought to herself as a feeling of nausea washed over her.
“Hey! Hey you! Over here” Blair peered around honing in on the voice that was spoken. Closing in on the strange man across the room noting that the speaker was also behind bars. The strange man dressed in what looked like a potato sack, unpleasing to the eye. The dark brown mesh barely covering his limbs. His short dark curly hair in disarray, almost hiding his light brown intelligent eyes.
“What are you in here for?” The speaker questioned, looking in Blair’s direction.
“Who me? I-I don’t know what I am in here for, I don’t even know where ‘here’ is” she replied while shrugging her shoulders.
“That’s quite funny, what’s your name?” The stranger asked a slight smile playing upon his lips.
“I’ll tell you mine if you tell me yours and what are you in here for?” Blair responded curiosity peaking her interest.
“Mavrik and I was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time” He explained.
“I see, I see, my name is Blair” she responded while waving her hand slightly in his direction. “So how come there are hardly any guards with us?” She asked not expecting an answer.
“Because it’s almost midnight and they are shift swapping” Mavrik announced while pretending to check the time by raising his wrist to his face.
“I see, how do you know this…there aren’t any windows?” Blair questioned again looking for any source of time.
“Ahh…a device of my own creation, but that’s my secret” he chuckled while winking in her direction. “Speaking of time…It’s almost time for my breakout” he smiled mischievously.
Mavrik moved to the right side of his cell in preparation for his breakout.
“Ok I’m going to show you a little magic trick” he grinned while pointing to his cell wall.
“Okay, let’s see what you got” Blair shot back amused at his antics.
“Well as you can see, this here is just a wall, but when I count to three, I will bust down this wall and escape” he chortled, a wide grin playing across his face. Mavrik glanced at his invisible watch while holding up three fingers “Ok you ready”.
“Do it” Blair answered suddenly quite curious.
“Right” he clapped and rubbed his hands together, “Three…Two…One”.
A loud grinding noise began to reverberate through the cell walls, light beginning to peak through the darkness of the jail cell. Blair covered her mouth as the air mixed with the dust from the cell walls. The bricks on the left side of Mavrik’s jail cell began falling away. The light becoming brighter as the hole in the cell grew larger.
“Well, well, well…see magic” Mavrik chuckled to Blair as his escape route was complete.
“No, I don’t think magic” Blair chided while pointing to Mavrik’s accomplice.
“You spoil all the fun don’t you” Mavrik jested, whispering into his accomplice’s ear.
His friend nodded and began grinding through the locks of Mavrik’s jail cell. Blair watched his friend in curiosity as the door groaned free of the lock. He nodded in Blair’s direction, lifting his tool to Blair’s door, he began freeing the latch.
The door broke free just as three guards arrived to inspect the noise. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” One guard spoke as another ran for Blair, Mavrik and their accomplice. The guards began to fire there weapons in a feeble attempt to take the prisoners down.

“Well that was close” Mavrik began with a wicked smile playing on his lips.
“Indeed” his friend commented as he peered at Blair, studiously examining her.
The wind shifted and the moment became awkward between the three of them as both of them men began to stare at Blair in open curiosity.
“Come back with us” Mavrik asked a now visibly uncomfortable Blair.
“Uhhh…I’m good. Thanks” she quickly decided and slowly started turning around to escape.
“Oh, I see what’s wrong with this picture” Mavrik’s friend chuckled, “you thought, we” as he pointed to Mavrik.
“Oh. Oh…Ohhh, No, no, no, no, no, it’s not like that at all” Mavrik added and started waving his hands in front of his body.
“My name is Talon, we just invited you back because you look hungry and probably need a hide out from the authorities” Talon stated gesturing for Blair to follow.
Blair’s stomach grumbled at the words of food, realising that she was out of her depth in terms of location “ok, but I need answers”.
Blair followed the two men through the shadows of the city towards their ‘hideout’.
They reached a neglected part of the city, a moderately sized hostel stood erect tucked away behind alley ways.
“This is it” Mavrik stated as he entered the dilapidated building, Talon closely following.

“Well, well, well, finally decided to grace us with your presence I see” a voice boomed moving in the direction on Mavrik. A spritely young female bounced over to Mavrik hugging him fiercely. The young female a foot smaller than Mavrik her curly brown hair falling around her shoulders on her dark brown skin.
“Blair, this is my wife Sophia” Mavrik boasted as he allowed the young woman to turn in Blair’s direction.
“Pleasure” Sophia smiled and extended her hand in welcome.
“Nice to meet you” Blair smiled shaking her hand back, her stomach once again growling.
“That’s right” Talon interrupted rubbing his hands together, “Who’s up for some early morning dinner” he added looking in Blair’s direction, “but first you both need showers”.

Mavrik directed Blair to the closest bathroom while handing her a fresh set of clothing as well as towels and soaps.
“Thank you” Blair smiled appreciating the small gesture.
“No problem, if you wish to stay the night, Sophia has a small guest room just down the hall” he answered pointing to the direction of the room. Blair entered the bathroom and stripped off her clothing. She looked at the reflection in front of her realising just what a state of array her appearance was in. Her hair had turned to a dark brown from the lack of soap and dirt had found a permanent residence against her skin the only body part that had truly held their colour was her light green moss coloured eyes. She began turning the shower knob, allowing the steam to engulf her before she stepped under the stream of the running water. ‘Oh my god, hot water! Soaps!’ she mused and ran her hands over her body and began the tedious task of cleaning herself. After an eternity, she left the shower, drying herself with the towel. She looked back into the mirror and sighed with relief as she could now see the faintly the tiny freckles dabbled across her fair complexion and her hair returning to its original dark auburn, smiling at the length in which it had grown over the few months on the island. She dressed herself in the new clothes, smiling at the long lost luxury of different clothing and exited for the dining room.

Sophia and Talon were busy preparing meals when Blair arrived. “Ahh, good, you’re ready” Sophia acknowledged without turning around, “can you help me set the table?”
“Sure, just tell me where everything is and it’ll be done” Blair replied as she made her way over to the kitchen.
“Top right cupboard are the plates, the cupboard next to it are the cups and the third draw from your left is the cutlery” Sophia stated while still stirring the food.
Blair made herself useful within the kitchen making five place settings on the table. “Done” she commented satisfied with being of use to the hospitable guests. Sophia turned towards the table and noted only five place settings realising that there were no mention of any other guests she began to giggle.
“Oh we forgot to tell you, the ‘big break out’ calls for all the guests to be here, need just two more for Cole and Aida” she chuckled while holding up two fingers.
“Oh, my mistake” Blair murmured before heading back into the kitchen. Not long after Blair grabbed the plate and the cup did Aida walk into the kitchen.
“Hello all, how did the ‘big break out’ go? Without a hitch I presume” Aida jested while eyeing Blair with suspicion.
Blair turned around at the sudden sound and her eyes locked onto Aida’s. Dropping the plates in her hands as all she could do was gasp at the sight of Aida. Her charcoal coloured hair tied in a messy bun barely with gentle strays tickling her coffee coloured strong cheek bones, her eyes searching into the depths of her soul. She had dreamt about those eyes, those light blue steel coloured eyes, they had haunted her. Craving, wanting, searching and waiting. Her dreams paled in comparison to the beauty that was before her.
“Did she give you a fright?” Sophia laughed as she looked at Blair who was stunned into shock.
‘Aida used stare. It was super effective. Way to go Blair’ she mentally slapped herself. “Sorry” Blair apologised as she bent down to start cleaning the mess.
“That’s ok, I’ll clean up, just grab two more plates but be careful. I have a limited supply” Sophia chortled as she exited the kitchen returning with what looked like a vacuum cleaner a hoovercraft 4000 to be exact as was stated on the machine. Sophia elevated her left wrist to her face as her right closed in on the buttons around her watch. She clicked a few buttons on her watch and proceeded with the early morning dinner. The vacuum cleaner received the command and came to life as it lifted 2 inches above the ground and moved closer to the broken plates. Blair watched in awe as the impressive machine achieved this height as well as engulf the mess with minimal power.
“What in the world? We don’t have this kind of technology where I’m from” Blair stated in disbelief.
“And where are you from?” Aida interrupted amusement playing across her features.
Blair glanced back in the direction of Aida “Well I’m from the United States of America, Philadelphia to be exact” announcing as she puffed her chest in homage.
“Where?” Aida asked, tilting her head slightly, confused on the location of where that was.
“You know, the Big U.S of A. USA. Come on, who doesn’t know America? It is only one of the most powerful countries on this planet” Blair drawled but felt defeated after seeing no recognition in her words “Ok, well where am I?” She asked.
“You are in Zandrit. The last city of Earth” Sophia announced as she looked at Blair in uncertainty.

I have not read a new story is SO LONG. It was a pleasant surprise to see your story Redhead. It was interesting but a little confusing in some places. I was not sure at one time if the entire thing was a dream or not. However it is good to see a new story on the board.
