I came across a FANTASTIC short story this week, by the young, prize-winning Korean writer Ch'oe Yun. The story, called "The last of Hanak'o", is in a collection called "Wayfarer: new fiction by Korean women", translated by Bruce and Ju-Chan Fulton. Published in 1997 by Women in Translation, Seattle. The title character, Hanak'o, is lesbian, completely comfortable with who she is, and completely overlooked as such by her male acquaintances, one of whom is the main point of view for the story.
Love to hear from anyone who gets hold of it.
Also read "The Telling" by Ursula LeGuin recently. Main heroine is lesbian, This fact only comes out briefly a couple times, though it helps (for me) illuminate her sensitivity to dilemmas of self and other and her stand against prejudice, something LeGuin always handles so brilliantly.
