 Elegant...
that's me.
Everything a lady
ought to be.

But on this
particular night,
Something seems...
not quite right.

It starts with a twitch
a shrug or a shiver
The smallest of ripples
in my serene little river

Then my flawless smile
begins to falter
Before your eyes
I start to
alter.

Thank Goddess for nails
sharp and long
When things like this
begin going wrong

I take an hors d'oeuvre
then drop it and grope
Like a mad marionette
at the end of her rope

I tear at my clothes
like Linda Blair's clone
But the cursed itch
won't leave me alone

I pretzel and twist
like a gumby on speed
What evil mosquito
has done this deed?

Or was it a spider
that bit me so cruel
Til I scratch like a hound
and gibber and drool

My guests stare astonished
on this ruined night
To see me brought low
by a simple
bug bite

The last guest mutters
While leaving the room
"Next time, my dear,
don't wear perfume."
