With tender caress she laps the shore,
Feeling and stroking the earth once more;
with flowing movement she pushes the land,
Turning to lift each grain of sand.
No waves to roll, no waves to break,
No ripples in the stillness there to wake;
With gentle serenity, a calm all around,
She ebbs slowly without a sound.
