 		The Fool and the Rose

 In the stillness of the pool I saw
A vision of what might be
The colours softly swirled around
Enfolding you and me
In the quietness of the imagery
Faintly I heard your song
And I listened as you sang to me
Of a place I might belong

So touched by my own emotions,
That I couldn't hear your call
I did not heed your warnings
And I let a teardrop fall
And it turned itself to crystal
And it fell into your pool
And the ripples took your image,
Leaving just this grieving fool

Oh, remorse is always futile
Since we cannot turn back time
So this careless act of madness
Lost the dream I'd hoped was mine
And now all I have remaining
Is the memory of your rose
Once with petals shyly opened
Now with petals gently closed
