Blue eyes
Not deep and mysterious
But open, refreshing pools
Quivering delicately on the exposed edge of a cliff
Awaiting the first vigorous shower of summer
To fulfill them and send them crashing wildly over the edge
A personality
Like a tight wire dancer, indifferent
To the vast distance to the valley floor
Flexibly and effortlessly
Strumming the thread of good humor
That last string of sanity – stretched too tightly
Between the cliffs of reality and reason
And that tongue like a whip!
Always poised and ready to crack
And snap – so watch out!
But the hands…
Gods, her hands, so expressive and alive
Musicians strumming her soul’s energy
Lively jokers in a palace court, singing more truth than jest
Like the mimes of her life
Mimicking her deeds
Her claim to fame in the world _________________ "There are no great people in this world, only great challenges which ordinary people rise to meet." W. Halsy Jr
