Answer
I expect chefs to be fat
Mechanics to be greasy
Cowpokes to be dusty
Not that these are requirements of the job
Only merely evidence of the job being done.
I expect you to answer the phone when I call
To come running as I always have for you,
To ticky ticky text me back within minutes.
(Of course, there's some latitude when you've got another new love)
But where is my evidence?
Here, this chasm between my esophagus and solar plexus
Here in the periodic collapse of my knees
Here, as I dial again and again to hear your voice
That will never say anything else.
Be fat, be greasy, be dusty, just answer the phone.
Just one more time, Andi, please. Just one more time. _________________ -

*sigh*
But as any junkie knows, once won't be enough. A Case Of You is the hardest to cure, and past a certain point, it really doesn't matter what they look like on that particular day, or what their particulars are, or have changed to. We just NEED.
PS--damn, it was fine to get a visit from you on my blog today. You are always more than welcome.

My reply
I'm swooning... simply because it's a new poem from ae.....that would be enough on its own... so welcome back darlin'. That I like it, get it, feel it, savour it...well that is just icing on my particular cupcake.

Aw, thanks for all the love, ladies!
I can't get my head around this one yet, poetically speaking. Somehow the angst and mischief of lost love is easier to wrangle than someone's sudden death.
It's good to be back.

Was this really my last ever poem on Mels? The one when Andrea died? Tragic. At least it wasn't another poem about Lucinda. _________________ -
