It was advertised as an art festival in an east coast town
Well-known for its unique clientele.
A municipality of open inclusiveness
Eager to accept discretionary income.
But all I see is sameness in lust with itself.
Visors, fanny-packs, and bulldozer asses
Decorated in rainbow uniformity.
And hands stuffed in lovers pockets.
I’m choking on corndogs stuffed with jealousy
Strangled by funnel cakes sprinkled in envy
Forced to the point of retching by multi-ethnic
Vagitarian choices that leave me nauseous with frustration.
I’ll keep my pocket-change; no trinkets will be bought for lost lovers.
I will return to my mountain of solitude and safety
And relish my quiet sanity,
Accepting the blessings that are mine.

It's still nice to visit a place where straight people are the oddballs!

Ha! I agree, having places and or venues just for us is a wonderful feeling!
I belong to a closed group on Facebook and the other day seemed to be a big pity party for some of the members. That gave me the idea for the poem, to write it from a lonely, bitter, pity party point of view. Go ahead, say that three times fast!
