The Return of the Wheel
(another anti-inspirational apocalypse-type poem)
Wholesome technology was light bulbs
and electricity. Einstein and Edison, Beethoven
and Braille. Sharp spears for hunting boars,
swords, knives, static and friction,
and eventually loud handheld killers
made of wood and cold steel.
Then it became nostalgic 2D videogames
and 8-bit color with limited pixel graphics
and size 14 fonts typing code in green
on screens that only existed in large
abnormal rectangle bodies the color
of manila envelopes in bleach.
And then it became the world wide web,
which then became cyberspace
and then became the Internet,
and then became a charcoaled hole.
But, the future of global tech
is endless bubble wrap
for imminent-rich visionaries.
A fishbowl of shifty ideas
that could help humanity evolve
into a product even less-human
than interactive mobile droids,
faces perma-lit with bright LEDs,
flat eyes studying dead relationships on flat screens,
and countless tummies still in shallow revolt
of doing crunches for bikinis, because plastic
surgeries are 100% more effective than work.
It is a series of white hot light bulbs
glowing above the chock-full foreheads
of multi-cranial beings
calculating recipes and remedies
for poverty, cancer, and pollution,
maybe even an end to all bigotry
within the next century,
but not before first creating
universally-terroristic warheads
capable of sinking the Moon,
millions of rapidly falling stars,
and even the Sun into another dimension
where the magic of the wheel
is still the bee’s knees,
and nobody actually exists.

Love it EDA.... have always wondered why we can create so many things to destroy and still are unable to fix common problems.
