Apoetblossom meets Pablo Neruda's 'Bestiary'

She rests in a black easychair,
a common white orchid with a pink
center, leaves folded over her chest,
head hung down, eyes closed.

Today she's given me the couch,
says she feels cradled in the recliner.
I bet her feet are sore. "There's nothing
left.”, she says, “I gave it all away at work.”

I swear they yank her from our garden
just to slap her against the pavement.
4, 10, 12 hours: the succeed in striping
her pollen. What need has a sidewalk?

Tears, exhaustion, no passion. I'm left trying
to water her but there's no 'miracle grow' to give
her the boost she's used to. Warm fuzzies and
cheer are met with sneers and snarls, esp in the am.

We never speak because she's tired, hungry,
depressed, crying, or finally on it and out the door.
I even tried to quote Pablo Neruda: “What do pigs
think of the dawn? They do not sing but hold it up

with their great rosy bodies, with their hard feet.
Pigs hold up the dawn but birds consume the night.”
She smiled, oinked, flapped her arms then fell
into bed. Tomorrow I'll be sure to give her the first

cup of coffee, even if either of us sleeps in.

ps. apoetblossom is my name on another critique board

A high altitude white orchid.

i liked this one, ms d.

oh and dont worry, its a glitch in the anti-spam code that causes the * before hold. the site isp has to sort it out, will be around for a while still, nothing to worry about.

regards
ghost
